How does anyone bloody wear skyscraper heels and expect to get anywhere?!

I mean, I love doing OTT styles and I'm swooning over this particularly gorgeous pair from M.B.

Kahika, Manolo Blahnik

And this? This pair from Versace's so darn beautiful my heart's doing somersaults.

Versace @ Milan Fashion Week

But surely these shoes aren't made for walking!

I tried on black 6-inch darlings over the weekend at Tangs Empire Subang and my legs looked so fantabulous in black skinnies, but -oh my shoe gods!-my calfs and knees hurt like hell after that :(

So for now, I'll stick to my theory that skyscrapers are only meant for perfectly coiffured, chauffeur driven women who never have to run a mile in another (average) women's shoes.

Yes, that must be it.

Ok, I'm getting musically predictable :P

It's just that I've been listening to a lot of Taylor Swift and Owl City lately. Oh, and also Colbie Caillat... gosh, am I getting too mellow? *gasp!* XD

Anywayyy, the music vid for Ms Taylor's "Ours" is out and awww, what a sweet video. Me thinks she looks pretty with or without curls and the trademark red lips.

Not really feeling the "love interest" in this vid though. I fell more for the redhead who bugs her at work, hehe. What a cutie!

Enjoy!

I'm a simple girl at heart. Nothing makes me happier than a warm, cosy room blessed by good company and lots of love and laughter.

Cuddling up in a soft arm chair, a deliciously aromatic cup of tea on hand, graced by the sun's mellow rays... well, that's bliss :)

Taylor Swift's Best Day is bringing out those yearnings for a quaint little country day ;)

I really love this song; it's so heartfelt and warm. (I love me mom too! XD )

Don't ya think Taylor was an adorable baby? It's cute how her mom called her Ms Taylor ^^

Writers, poets, thinkers, philosophers, auteurs... we're to an extent people who are very self absorbed. I think it's part and parcel of having a mind that's wired that way.

It's just not possible to have quiet contemplations, self reflections and the ilk without the need to retreat deep into our own thoughts, occasionally shutting out the noise from the world, sorting what we've seen and heard.

Day dreamers have that too, the vacant look, that shows we've gone off wandering/wondering.

Yes, Adam Young always gets me contemplating. Yes, I'm besotted... by the Saltwater Room :P

"So tell me darling do you wish we'd fall in love?
All the time, all the time."

Came across this:

Model: Satomi Kondo

Ooh-la-la! Love the pose! The styling of the outfit doesn't seem too bad as well, but the angle, props and the model's expression? Gorgeous! I can't help but think femme fatale!

It's uncanny how the mood of the picture and this song goes so well together:

Oh oh! And this dress! It's so loveeeely! :D

Sword Fish, modelled by Rio Matsumoto (I believe, gomen ne, relying on my rusty Japanese)

The colour! The prints! Beautiful! ^^

It's one of those dresses I can never wear because the cut's so high waist. *pout* :P

The French Kiss and the Boy Next Door

This post's title is actually more steamy than my love life is, hehe.

Reading bits of Anna and the French Kiss, and Lola and the Boy Next Door.

Gawd, what would the world be like without Stephanie Perkins? She's golden, I tell ya. I fall in love every single time, feeling giddy like I've just had bubbly, hugging my books in sheer glee.

Etienne. Cricket. Etienne. Cricket. Dang, I can't choose, both are lushly delish! Anna and Lola sure are lucky gals :P

I did love Anna a wee bit more (both the book and the girl) but I suspect it's my bias for English accents, Europe/Paris, films and cinema, history and literature, and Anna and Etienne's imperfect set of pearly whites (hmm, now who does that remind me of?) :P

I certainly can connect with both girls and they each remind me a little of myself: Lola's love for costumes mirrors my own and Anna's passion for films and cinemas brings back good memories of my time as a pseudo arts student. But, I do think I'm more like Anna.

On the other hand, Etienne seems like the type of guy I'll fantasize about dating, while Cricket is more the type that I'll actually date XD

I see more of myself in Etienne though, minus the cocky personality. We both love history, punk rock (ok, he likes French punk rock but I don't care, punk rock is punk rock :P ), our moms, crepes, and know useless bits of info.

These are fan made covers of Anna and the French Kiss, but I love how romantic both are. Unfortunately, Anna's actual book cover doesn't help much in selling the book based on looks alone.

Now, I'll love to see these on my book shelf!

And... I don't know who this cutie is, but he sure fits my bill of how Etienne would look like - a sentiment echoed by a kindred spirit on Goodreads who first highlighted what a good fit it'll be.

And... also because of Anna, I'll like to visit here one day and make my very own wish:

The song that always plays in my head when I read Anna, or makes me think of Anna:

The great thing is that Stephanie is social media active, and writes an entertaining blog here, posts wonderful tidbits like the official playlist for Anna here, and has a Twitter and Facebook account.

Try leaving a message on Facebook to let her know what you think of the books and sometimes, she may reply :)

So sick of love songs

Hehe, can you guess which song the title came from? XD

I once had my heart broken very badly and yeah, I know very well how it feels to hate just about every love song that you can never seem to avoid when the last thing you want to hear is the word "love"... there's just no escape =.=

So, I've always had a soft spot for Ne-Yo's So Sick, although unless you're a terrific singer (I'm not XD ) I wouldn't recommend singing this at karaoke unless you have very patient and tolerant karaoke buddies :P

Believe me, "so sick of love songs" quickly became "so sick of this song". Muahahaha.

Since we're on this theme, another "heartbreak" song that I really like is... All American Rejects' Gives You Hell!

Now, this one's great for karaoke! :D

... And once you get over the bitterness and heartache, maybe some Stacie Oricco and I'm Not Missing You instead? :P

Coincidentally, one of the songs I really really hated many years ago is a sad love song. Wow.

Listened to it again and nope, still don't like it.

There's this one book trilogy whereby I couldn't keep myself from reading all 3 books in 3 consecutive nights. It was so feverishly addictive and the story sucked me in so much that I couldn't stop thinking about it for days.

Ladies and gentlemen, may the odds ever be in your favour that once in awhile, you'll stumble onto that sort of experience.

Maybe the upcoming Hunger Games movie will be able to do for you what the books did for me. Though, I think the magic waned for me once I got to Mockingjay.

Nevetheless, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire are really good books and the movie looks promising.

The trailer may not have much of an impact if you're not familiar with the first book and in fact, it's pretty confusing and the scenes are out of sequence.

But it still beats the crappy teaser vid that was released a while ago by a mile. That one really got me worried.

Soooo, Peeta or Gale? :P

Cover Lust

You know when you're browsing the shelves in a book store and there's this one book that just draws your attention to it, capturing your gaze and holding you spellbound?

Or when you're browsing books on the net and suddenly you see an image of a book that's absolutely breathtaking, awe inspiring and simply gorgeous?

That, loves, is what Cover Lust is all about. One book cover I've been lusting after is...

It's stunning and even more so in real life, as the silver circles are shiny! Crazy cool.

I'm so tempted to get the book... if only the actual story seemed more like my cup of tea :(

Down with tonsillitis, fever burns and throat hurts like hell :(

Maybe that's why I'm increasingly drawn to the storminess of Taylor Swift's Sparks Fly.

I love the part where she sings "Drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain. Kiss me on the side-walk, take away the pain".

There's just something so wildly romantic and dramatic in that.

Feeling a little melancholy and suddenly have this urge to read the Gravitation manga while listening to the anime & OVA's soundtracks <3

Yuki x Shuichi are like... the perfect couple - their relationship's not easy, won't be easy, will never be easy, but for each other they're willing to go that extra mile just to make sure things work out.

*ahem* If you have to ask if Shuichi is male or female... it might be better not to know XD

If that's not love and devotion (and maybe slighttttly stalker-ish obsession on Shuichi's part :P ), I don't know what is.

Oh oh, and, Yuki is so HOT kekekekekeke XD BISHOUNEN!! He smokes like a chimney, is grumpier than a bear with a sore tooth but darn, how is anyone supposed to resist a face like that huh?

*drool, yum, mmnn*

In the mood for a little "In the Moonlight". I love the song's lyrics!

Take this verse:
kimi o matteru   tooi omoi demo
tokei dake ga ashi oto no youni   nemurenai mune ni hibiku
ima mo matteru   hitori tomatteru
futari mita anohi no tsuki o ima dokode kimi wa miteru

Apparently it translates to:
I'll keep waiting for you, no matter how far apart we are --
it's just the clock's ticking, but it resonates in my sleepless heart like
the sound of footsteps.
Even now I'm waiting; I stop here alone.
From where do you now see the moon we saw together on that day?

Full lyrics here:
http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/gravitation/inthemoonlight.htm

Yeah... it's so very Yuki & Shuichi and so the type of scenario a hopeless romantic/idealist would idealise XD

In the Moonlight is from a scene in the OVA, and the story is that Shuichi came up with the song while thinking of Yuki and their relationship.

Nyan! Rabu rabu! <3 Love-struck Shuichi is adorable!

In My Mailbox

Lola and the Boy Next Door arrived a couple of weeks ago from Book Depository.

I'm spending way too much on books, not to mention where am I going to put all the additional titles I've been adding to my collection lately!!

But oh well... it was pre-ordered waaay back in the middle of the year, so that's my neat excuse :D And, I just had to get it from Book Depository when I saw the listing.

Firstly, pre-order = better price. USD 12.74 to be precise, shipping included. Not bad for a hardcover. Secondly, I don't expect to see this locally anytime soon. Thirdly, it's Stephanie Perkins and it's Lola!

My willpower doesn't extend that far when it comes to this combination :(

The envelope it arrived in. Took the Brussels route again to get here. Envelope's grimey and dinged at the edges, but otherwise everything was alright.

What's that I spy? *whee!*

Oo-la-la~

My most anticipated release of 2011! Isn't the cover gorgeous? XD *hugs book*

I thought I had sexy pictures of the book unclothed, but I must have accidentally deleted them :'(

You'll have to take my word that under that jacket, there's a purdy dark mint cover waiting to be discovered. ^^

You can sorta see it peeking out from underneath in the last photo. Nice colour, aye? <3

"Audioferous"

Audioferous. Yessss... I did kinda just make up that word on the spot, based on the word odiferous - which, according to the more pleasant definition of the word, means odorous/fragrant.

So if odour is to smell and audio is to sound, audioferous means.....? You got it! Sweet music to the ears & to the soul. Well, I never said I wasn't dramatic?.... did I? ;)

Lately KF has been posting some instrumental versions of popular anime tracks on FB, one thing led to another, and -voila!- I stumbled upon an old fav song of mine, which I'd almost forgotten about >.<

K-ON's Don't Say Lazy, performed on an electric organ.

Original Version, by Scandal (if I'm not mistaken).

What do you think? Personally, I'm swinging more towards the electric organ due to the more "mellow" sound :P

De mo, the original is great for rock out sessions, hee! :D

Of sweet mints & pleasures

Recently I've been popping these - Pinky sweet Japanese mints, Hokkaido limited editions. Don't they look adorable? ^^

One's melon flavoured, the other Huscup. Err, what in the name of pink monkeys is a Huscup?

The taste is grape-like and the picture of the fruit looks like grapes... But who knows? Could be some totally exotic & hitherto largely unknown fruit of the Earth :P

Anyway, these little pleasures are tiny and fleeting, but oh my, what bliss! ;)
